Crooks Hall, Brentwood College
Brentwood College School is a private school for students in grades 9 through 12. The Art and Mary Jane Crooks Hall was designed to be the= new dining room and student services center at the oceanfront.
The design and orientation of the new building sought to integrate into the campus plan and natural surroundings, while preserving ocean views from the existing buildings. Crooks Hall anchors the south end of the campus, forming the southern boundary to the pedestrian spine and Campbell Common.
The building features a patio overlooking the ocean opening off both the dining room and McNeill’s and providing outdoor seating in warmer weather. This project was built to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold standards and included an expanded geothermal system (a heat exchanger placed in the ocean), heat recovery wheels, grey water heat recovery, and bioswales within the parking lots.
